The Suwannee Banjo Camp Student Open Mic

The procedure for the open mic during the SBC Extra Day is as follows. When you check in for the Extra Day prior to dinner on Thursday, March 17, you may fill out a slip of paper that lists your name, instrument(s) you wish to play, and preferred style (bluegrass, old-time, etc.). You then drop that slip of paper into one of three containers labeled "solo performance," "old-time ensemble," or "bluegrass ensemble."

From this information, We will either assign you to a band in your preferred genre or give you a solo slot. Soloists and ensembles will have about half an hour after dinner to rehearse before the start of the open mic.

As an enhancement to the experience, each ensemble will have an instructor assigned to it as a participant and coach. In addition, any solo performer may ask a staff member to perform with him.

Each solo act or ensemble performs one number.
